What is Liquid Biocell?

Liquid BioCell is a dietary supplement designed to help with keeping joints, hair, skin and nails healthy. The collagen contains all naturally-derived ingredients that assist in that anti-aging process. They help to restore youthfulness by reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as reinforcing the overall health of the bodies hair, skin, nails, teeth and gums.  

BioCell Collagen is the primary component of Liquid BioCell which is derived from dietary chicken sternal cartilage that is hormone and antibiotic free that contains a naturally occurring matrix of collagen type II peptides, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid. Chicken sternal cartilage is very similar to human cartilage in composition, but is higher in type II collagen, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid.

The majority of collagen ingredients on the market are derived entirely from animal protein (e.g., cow, pig, and marine). These materials, which contain more than 90% protein, are frequently referred to as Collagen Peptides, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Collagen Hydrolysate, Collagen Type I & III, or Gelatin (also a form of hydrolyzed collagen).

BioCell Collagen is non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, shellfish-free, fish-free, egg-free, milk-free, peanut-free, and sugar-free.

What are the Critical Nutritional Elements Found in BioCell Collagen?

BioCell Collagen is a dietary supplement made entirely of hydrolyzed chicken sternal cartilage extract.  According to independent laboratory testing, BioCell Collagen contains 60% Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II (measured as Total Protein), 20% Chondroitin Sulfate, and 10% Hyaluronic Acid.

Biocell Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin’s dermis and joint cartilage.  It provides the structural underpinning for your connective tissues, which keeps your skin strong and resilient, as well as your joints active and fluid.  Chondroitin sulfate is a naturally occurring component of joint cartilage that absorbs a lot of shock.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a chemical that hydrates your skin, lubricates your joints, and holds your cells together with a gel-like substance.

Collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA), and chondroitin sulfate are all required for the healthy structure and function of the skin dermis.


As we age, the levels of these components decrease, causing the dermal matrix to disorganize or collapse.

Clinical trials have shown that BioCell Collagen supplementation improves skin beauty from the inside out.

Collagen gives the dermal matrix tensile strength because it is interwoven with ground compounds like hyaluronic acid.


Increasing the density of dermal fibroblasts, which produce structural components for the dermal network, can also help skin look younger.

BioCell Collagen has been extensively researched, with seven human clinical trials demonstrating its safety, efficacy, and bioavailability.  Several research studies, including seven human clinical trials, back up BioCell Collagen’s safety, efficacy, and bioavailability.

Toxicology/Safety Investigations

The in vitro, animal, and human studies on BioCell Collagen, as well as the extensive historical use of BioCell Collagen in dietary supplements since 1998, all show a favorable safety profile.

An Expert Panel of toxicology scientists reviewed BioCell Collagen safety data and determined through scientific procedures that the intended uses of BioCell Collagen as a dietary ingredient are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).

BioCell Collagen Human Bioavailability Study

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found in almost all body tissues.
HA serves two functions in the joint.  For starters, it functions as a key structural molecule in the formation of healthy, functional cartilage.  Second, HA is a key component of synovial fluid, a lubricant found in our joints that allows for smooth and easy movement.  A 28-day bioavailability study in humans revealed that consuming BioCell Collagen (1500 mg/day) resulted in a 60-fold increase in HA levels at steady state.

Multiple Human Clinical Trials vs BioCell Collagen Joint Support Studies

BioCell Collagen supplementation was tested for tolerability and efficacy in an 80-person, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial for joint health.

For 70 days, the participants were divided into two groups and given either 2 g of BioCell Collagen or a placebo.  In comparison to the placebo group, the BioCell group experienced a significant reduction in joint discomfort on days 35 (p = 0.017) and 70 (p 0.001).

Furthermore, the BioCell group outperformed the placebo group in terms of physical activity on days 35 (p = 0.007) and 70 (p = 0.001).  BioCell Collagen was well tolerated and effective, increasing mobility and quality of life.

The study, which was peer-reviewed, was published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry. (Schauss et al., 2012).

These findings matched those of an earlier double-blind placebo-controlled trial involving sixteen people.  Multiple human clinical trials have shown that BioCell Collagen is safe and effective in promoting joint and skin health.

Multiple Human Clinical Trials vs BioCell Collagen Joint Support Studies

In an 80 subject, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial for joint health, investigators tested the tolerability and efficacy of BioCell Collagen® supplementation. The participants were divided into two groups and administered either 2 g of BioCell Collagen or placebo for 70 days. Compared to placebo, the BioCell group had a significant reduction of joint discomfort on days 35 (p = 0.017) and 70 (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the BioCell group experienced a significant improvement in physical activities compared to the placebo group on days 35 (p = 0.007) and 70 (p < 0.001). BioCell Collagen Skin Beauty-from-Within Studies

In a 12-week study, women who took 1000 mg of BioCell Collagen daily had 76 percent less dryness/scaling and 13.2 percent fewer fine lines and wrinkles when compared to baseline levels.  Collagen levels and microcirculation were also significantly improved.  The findings of this study were published in the journal Clinical Interventions in Aging (Schwartz, Park J, 2012)*.


Within 12 weeks of daily use, 1000 mg of BioCell Collagen was found to visibly reduce common signs of skin aging, including lines and wrinkles, in one of the most extensive studies of a skin health supplement.


The findings of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial included a measurable improvement in signs of aging in women, as evidenced by increased skin elasticity, a reduction in crow’s feet, and an improvement in the depth and number of fine lines and wrinkles.
